Shirley S. Allen
Shirley S. Allen was born in Oak Park, Illinois, and graduated from Oak Park High School. She received a B.A. from Carleton College and a Ph.D. in English and Latin from Bryn Mawr. Married to Archibald W. Allen, a professor of classics at Yale, Colby, and Wesleyan, she brought up three children before becoming a professor of English at the University of Connecticut. Among her scholarly publications is a book on the stage history of Shakespearean drama. After retiring to California, she became a fiction writer. Her first novel, Roxanna Britton, was published in 2001. Watch for Academic Body coming in March 2010.
P. I. Barrington and Loni Emmert
California natives and sisters P.I. Barrington and Loni Emmert fell in love with New England during fall vacations in Maine and New Hampshire. Loni has spent the past twenty-five years working in the music industry and writing press releases and magazine articles. P.I.’s experience includes work as a newspaper journalist, radio air talent, and at a major record company. P.I.’s first suspense novel, Crucifying Angel, was released in 2009. Judith Campbell
Rev. Dr. ‘Judy’ Campbell is an ordained Unitarian Universalist minister and author of several books and articles. She has published children’s stories, poetry, as well as essays on the arts and religion and on spirituality. She holds a Ph.D. in The Arts and Religious Studies and a Master of Arts in Fine Arts. She has presented writing retreats and spirituality workshops nationally and internationally—and when she isn’t tearing around the planet, she lives on the island of Martha’s Vineyard and in Plymouth, Massachusetts, with her husband and best friend, Chris Stokes, a Professional Englishman, together with their annoyingly intelligent cats, Lucy and Katie. James A. Ciullo
Jim Ciullo lives in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, where in his previous career, he helped to develop a system of community services for persons with developmental disabilities. When not writing, he works as a consultant and as a volunteer in various community projects. His previous novels include A Tango in Tuscany (2002) and Orinoco (2007), a prequel to Maracaibo, published by Mainly Murder Press. Sharon Love Cook got her first newspaper column at age 16. Since then she's continued, writing a long-term humor column for a local paper. Jessie Crockett
A nearly life-long resident of the Granite State, Jessie naturally adores black flies, 98% humidity, killing frosts in August, and snow banks taller than the average grandmother. When not working on her next murderous adventure, she enthusiastically putters in her greenhouse, designs bento lunches, and throws oversized parties. She delights in mentoring young writers at the local elementary school. Lesley A. Diehl
Lesley retired from her life as a professor of psychology and reclaimed her country roots by moving to a small cottage in the Butternut River Valley in upstate New York . In the winter she migrates to old Florida —cowboys, scrub palmetto, and open fields of grazing cattle, a place where spurs still jingle in the post office. Back north, she devotes her afternoons to writing, and when the sun sets, relaxing on the bank of her trout stream, sipping tea or a local microbrew. Karen Frisch
Karen Frisch has written and illustrated her own stories since childhood when her heroines were Nancy Drew and Lassie. Her short mystery won First Place in the 2007 Writer’s Digest Popular Fiction Awards’ Mystery Category. She is the author of two genealogy books, Unlocking the Secrets in Old Photographs and Creating Junior Genealogists. With a master’s degree in Victorian literature, she taught English and wrote hospital publications before becoming a historic interpreter. Born in Northern California, Kate George now lives in rural Vermont. She shares an old farmhouse with a husband, four kids, three dogs and three cats. John J. Gilmore
John J. Gilmore writes fiction based on offbeat people he meets in his travels. His characters are very often the invisible people we walk by every day of our lives. He was born and raised in New York City and now lives with his wife in Stratford, Connecticut. He spends a great deal of time in Vermont. His early career was in journalism. He spent many years as a reporter covering everything from police news to national political campaigns and was an award-winning columnist. John currently works in marketing for large law firms. Judith K. Ivie
A lifelong Connecticut resident, Judith K. Ivie has worked in public relations, advertising, sales promotion, the international tradeshow industry, and an assortment of not-for-profit venues. Along the way, Judi produced three nonfiction books, as well as numerous articles and essays. In 2006 Judi broadened her repertoire to include fiction, and the Kate Lawrence mystery series, set in central Connecticut, was launched. Steve Liskow has published stories in three anthologies of New England crime writing and has twice won Honorable Mention for the Al Blanchard Story Award. “Stranglehold” won the Wolfe Pack’s 2009 Black Orchid Novella Award and will appear Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine in summer 2010. Born and raised in Rhode Island, Suzanne Young has worked as a writer, an editor and a computer programming since earning her degree in English from URI in Kingston.
